How many of you know Joseph Kony? Actually, how many of you know about Uganda and its problem? Joseph Kony is to be listed as the most dangerous person who has to be captured. If you do not know about Joseph Kony, watch the video “KONY 2012”. After you understand the video, please read my post and help yourself understand about what I am based on.
This is the sign and poster about the famous event spread worldwide by social network. The video, Kony 2012, is trying to convince us to help capture Kony and is making us think that Kony is a bad person by using our emotions. However, is this video convincing? I believe that this project, Kony 2012, is much too exaggerated and that we need more proof to choose whether or not we should help Kony. This will be exactly what I will be talking about, and there will be 2 reasons why I believe this project isn’t that important.
Do you know what this video want to request you to do? It is requiring MONEY. It says that some dollars can help stop Kony and save the children. I admit that Kony is a bad person. But, will that man, Jason, use all his money on the Kony 2012 project? I do not think so. A lot of companies' leaders use money for their own goods and even presidents do. We are same human beings, and we can’t ever deny that there is hidden greed about money and power. It will be the same as Jason. He would want the money which the teens paid to save the invisible children. We never know how and where he uses his money which we donated, so I think it is a thing that we should suspect about.
They are money bags. Don’t you feel greedy?
Actually, what is the biggest problem of Africa? It’s food shortage, pirates, etc. We have much more things to care about than Joseph Kony’s army. First, we have to help the people who are dying of diseases and food shortage. It is true that Kony makes Uganda suffer and he is a bad person who kills other people in a cruel way. Well, the population which dies because of diseases and food shortage would be larger than the people who die because of Joseph Kony. So, we should fix the problem which is the majority first and then work on Joseph Kony’s military and power.
They are so hungry because of food shortage. We should help them first!
(Actually, some African people eat dirt mixed with rice to fill their stomach up.)
In conclusion, I think this program’s money and work should be used in another place. If you visit:
“http://www.globalissues.org/issue/83/conflicts-in-africa”, you will find that there are no problems about Kony listed and other much more serious problems. So, before you donate and help the project Kony 2012, think again! You do not know whether or not the project is true or where they use the money. So I think we should be careful when we decide what to do with this project Kony 2012.

It is good to see that you took a different approach from most others. You didn't simply acknowledge KONY2012 as truth and doubted at first. This is something very important in studying as well, especially in history. You also gave sufficient evidence to backup your argument. Excellent job!
ReplyDeleteI personally think KONY 2012 a hoax, and it's a good point you make: that there are more urgent issues to be dealt with. You are convincing in arguing that money is something you should suspect. Next time, try to come up with more examples that are specific to the issue. I think that sometimes when you are arguing for or against something, it isn't enough to approach it in a general way. Think about the facts involved, and talk about them. Overall, nice work :)
